"The Historical Ancient Temple of Sri Dalada Delgamuwa Vihara "

"Ekha datha Thidasa Pure"
    Eka Naga Pure Ahu
Ekha Gandhara Visaye
    Ekhasi puna Seehale

According to the above mentioned reputed stanza(Gatha) in which mentions the four main sacred Tooth Relics of Lanka. It is our lord Buddha's left sacred Tooth Relic.
After cessation of the lord Buddha, this sacred Tooth Relic was secretly taken by one Arahath Khema from the sandun pire on the occasion of the cremation of the Lord Buddha and offered to the king Bambadath in the city of Benarese for worshiping.
Since then, consecutively, by the 3rd century A.D, this sacred Tooth relic belonged to the king, Guhaseeha, the king of Kalingurata in Danthapura. In that occasion, when another king called Kshieradhara declared war claiming for the sacred Tooth Relic from the king Guhaseeha, he handed over the sacred Tooth Relic to his daughter, Hemamala and his Son-in-law, the price Dantha and dispatched to Sri Lanka.

The Theme of Prose "The Life and Death of Cholomondeley"

Describe the theme of Prose "The Life and Death of Cholomondeley".

Answer

Gerald Durrel takes cruelty to animals as the theme of the prose. He uses an animal known as Chumley to give the theme in a vivid manner. When we study Chumley's life we can understand the pains and sufferings he had to undergo. Mainly his freedom is disturbed by limiting his life to a cerden area. Sending animals to zoo use him mental and physical tortures. It is because he was given a limited area to live. It really is a harassment. It shows how cruel people are to put them in a cage and let them suffer. Not only that a chain was attached to his body.
"Chumley's crate was placed about Fifty yards from the hut(next a great gnarled tree stump to which I attached his chain)"
Using a chain to tie an animal is completely the cruel act.

Social Issue Discuss in the poem "Leave - taking"

 Question
What social issue discuss in the poem "Leave taking" by Cecil Rajendra? Discuss.

Answer
When we read the the above lines (poem) we come to understand the ignorance of adults towards to the elderly people which really is the theme of this poem. The above lines show us that the adults are not capable enough to provide elderly people their satisfaction of and happiness their only joy is from the smaller ones because we see the poor relationship between adults and old people. Therefore the first few lines which I mentioned are quite enough to realize the carelessness of the adults in the modern society towards the old people what we notice is that the old people are discriminated and make them.

Theme (Discussion) You are Old, Father William

This Discussion also I thought to continue in question and answer mode.
Question

What is the theme of  "You are Old, Father William" ? How is it present?

Answer
The poet of the poem "You are Old, Father William", Lewis Carrol takes generation gap as the theme. He brings this theme for our focus sarcastically through the dialogue between old man and young man who represent older generation and younger generation.
"And yet you incessantly stand your head"
Do you think at your age, it is right"
So we come to understand the fact that young people think that, when people become old, they become very week. But we know that all are not like that. The old people sometime stronger than younger. We also understand that the young man can't stand on head through the above lines. It is really shows the gap between the older generation and younger generation.

You Are Old, Father William

You Are Old, Father William
Lewis Carroll

"You are old, Father William," the young man said,
"And your hair has become very white;
And yet you incessantly stand on your head—
Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

"In my youth," Father William replied to his son,
"I feared it might injure the brain;
But now that I'm perfectly sure I have none,
Why, I do it again and again."

Villa for Sale leaves all the characters

In this post I am going to few answer  regarding Villa for Sale. Before read this read my first post about Villa for Sale.
Question..

Villa for Sale leaves all the characters.
First make your answer and continue reading..

Answer
I'm in complete agreement with the statement that "Villa For Sale" leaves all the main characters happy at the end. The main intention of Juliette is to sell the villa earning a big profit of her own. The story reminds us that it had become very difficult to her to sell the villa and decided to cut lost as well. She was expecting a buyer from an agency. Even though Jeanne and Gaston, the buyers were very negative towards the villa, finally

Villa For Sale

Villa For Sale - Sacha Guitry

I think as a literature lover people all of you have red this drama and enjoyed it. If not first read VILLA FOR SALE.(click here to download Villa For Sale.pdf )

1. The drama Villa for Sale shows how Gaston outwits women in the drama. Comment

In my point of view - the whole drama itself is a satire (wrote with one intention, to ridicule a person in the form of a poem or a play). Here Gaston is a witty character and throughout the drama he does not agree with Jeanne thinking that this villa is impossible. His words are short but very thoughtful. He is extremely witty and clever in his replies.
"On the principle of people who like children

Discussion / Mid - Term Break

OK now we are going to discuss the poem "Mid-Term Break"
Death and Grief in Mid-Term Break

In the poem Mid-Term Break by Seamus Heaney, the ideas of death, trauma, grief and finality are explored. The poem itself is as haunting as it is brilliantly executed. The poem depicts a boy arriving home from boarding school, to where he is informed of the tragic death of his younger brother, whose doomed fate indelibly marks the narrator, whom is the boy’s older brother. The boy recounts the experience of losing a loved one. The author has incorporated many elements and style in a subtle and distinct manner.

The poem depicts a boy arriving home from school, “moaning in the college sick bay”

Mid-Term Break by Seamus Heaney

Mid-Term Break by Seamus Heaney

I sat all morning in the college sick bay
Counting bells knelling classes to a close.
At two o'clock our neighbors drove me home.

In the porch I met my father crying--
He had always taken funerals in his stride--
And Big Jim Evans saying it was a hard blow.

The baby cooed and laughed and rocked the pram
When I came in, and I was embarrassed
By old men standing up to shake my hand

My Laud of "Doom Youth"

"Wilfred Owen (1893 - 1918)
Anthem for Doomed Youth here is my words of "Anthem for Doomed Youth". I suggest you must have your own about "...Doomed youth". So first familiar with poem and then come to this.......................................................................

Wilfred Owen in his poem "Anthem for Doomed youth" describes us the pathetic situation of soldiers who die in the battle field. As a readers we understand that he has a big respect towards them.So that he has a big respect towards them. so that he has named the poem as Anthem for Doomed youth. The poet's anger towards the war is emphasized in the first rhetorical question,
"What passing - bells for these who die as cattle"
It's vital in the christian culture to ring the bells at funeral. Yet the poet questions whether the bells are rung[..]

Anthem for Doomed Youth

Wilfred Owen (1893 - 1918)
What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
       - Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, -
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.
What candles may be held to speed them all?[..]

Parrot Theme

I kindly ask you to enjoy the poem "Parrot" before follow this post

OK. Now I think you have idea about theme of parrot(Humor poem by Alan Brownjohn). See what I think.may be my facts are not good enough as you. OK this what I think.

Comment on the theme of the poem. How is the theme conveyed?
Referring to the poem "Parrot" by Alon Brownjohn, we come to understand that the poet uses the cruelness of  people towards animals as the theme of the poem. We notice the satisfaction of the people by caging a parrot and expects his performances according to their needs. They want the bird to behave in that such a way so that they can be happy. There is nothing to bird to do other than sitting with both eye closed.
"Sometime I sit with both eyes closed "

But the family members expect more..

Humour

Humour
Parrot -Alan Brownjohn

Sometimes I sit with both eyes closed,
But all the same, I've heard;
They're saying ' "He won't talk because
He is a thinking bird."

I'm olive green and sulky, and
The family say,"Oh yes,
He's silent but he is listening
He thinks more than he says"

He ponders on the thing he hears,
preferring not to chatter!"

Lets Start

As Robert Frost has said, poetry "beings in delight". This is in fact, true of all good literature.Literature show you some of beautiful and exciting ways in which language can be used. Not only all these parts of this blog bring you pleasant experiences, of  course.
This would not be true of life as you yourselves know it. But we are sure that you, too, like the authors, would like to think seriously about the world around you, while enjoying what is beautiful. In this way you would understand what frost mean by the whole of the quotation given in part in our first sentence. He said that a poem "begin in delight and ends in wisdom".[..]
